What should my dancer wear?
Any dance attire is welcome. I prefer a leotard (pink is my favorite) so I can best see the alignment of the dancer. Tights, leggings, skirts, or shorts are welcome additions. I love to see my ballerina's faces so make sure their hair is pulled back. For the recital they will need a pink leotard (preferably with short sleeves), a pink ballet skirt and tights. Walmart and Target have some cute options at good prices.
What kind of dance shoe?
Ballet slippers are not required but are recommended for the class (they can get expensive). I am not picky on the brand but I do want them pink. PayLess or Dorothy's Dance Shop carry them or you can get them online. They run about $20. I recommend buying at least one size bigger than the shoe size they are currently wearing.
What type of discipline is taught?
Pre-ballet introduces the dancers to the foundation of dance. They will learn grace, poise, and confidence as they are introduced to ballet, jazz, and creative dance. We also incorporate other preschool concepts they are being introduced to as we enjoy dancing and learning in a class setting (colors, counting, singing, etc.).
Should I stay and watch my daughter?
Parents are welcome to stay during class but only dancers are allowed in the dance room. It has been my experience that my dancers tend to be more focused when they do not have the distractions of parents or younger siblings. If dancers are nervous or having a hard time we will accommodate as necessary to make sure everyone is having fun! If you decide to stay and do have younger ones with you please keep an eye on them (remember it's my home:)) and please pick up any toys they get out before class is over.
When is tuition due?
Tuition for the session is due on the first day of class in either cash, check, or card. If paying in cash, please place in an envelope with your dancer's name on it.
What time will class be at?
I try to accommodate everyone's schedules as best as I can so class times are finalized the week before classes begin. Classes usually run on Thursdays or Fridays 9:00-2:00 pm with the after-school class at 3:30 pm on Thursdays. If we need to add more classes they would occur on Wednesday.
Where are the dance classes held?
Classes are taught in my home and you will receive an email with all my information once registration is closed and classes are finalized.
